For the past two years Duff has been dating her co-star James McAvoy, her car-thief boyfriend in Shameless, who is nine years younger than her. She has consistently refused to speak about him except to say that the age gap is not a problem, and she blushes whenever his name is mentioned.

Thanks to his role as Tumnus, rising star James McAvoy's career is fast becoming the stuff of fantasy

James McAvoy remembers exactly where he was when he read The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe for the first time. It was in Glasgow, in bed, in fleecy pyjamas - and, being 11 years old, he knew he was a bit of a latecomer to the children's classic.

"But I totally loved it," says the young actor as he recalls that first, fantastical journey of the mind: edging open the wardrobe, discovering it was hung with fur coats, pushing through the soft folds, pressing on across the snow, on to the magical world of Narnia. "I just let my imagination go bonkers."

Hot Scots actor James McAvoy was put in his place by an eight year old after he mistakenly swore in her face on the set of The Chronicles of Narnia:The Lion,The Witch And TheWardrobe. Shameless star James plays Mr Tumnus, the kindly faun and is the first magical creature to be befriended by Lucy Pevensie, played by Georgie Henley.
