McAvoy has also been recently interviewed by Louisa Pearson for The Scotsman.
James McAvoy is feeling fragile. Under the wavy shock of dark hair, his blue eyes are bleary and his distinctly Scottish complexion is a whiter shade of pale. Just what exactly has the actor been up to? A late night at Stringfellows? A red carpet bash with his celebrity friends?

Scots star James McAvoy looks sizzling as a Gordon Ramsay- style chef in an upcoming new BBC adaptation of Shakespeare.
The heart- throb actor, who shot to fame in TV hits Shameless and State of Play, stars as megalomaniac cook Joe Macbeth in a modern-day update of The Bard's 'Scottish Play'. But McAvoy’s character does more than swear at his staff like Hell's Kitchen star Ramsay. With the action switched south of the border to the kitchens of a top London restaurant, he is egged on by his wicked wife, Ella Macbeth - played by Keeley Hawes - to murder his way to the top with his cleaver. It's yet another step up the career ladder for the Glasgow-born actor.
